Restaurants
The dossier in the house will give you full details,
but to whet your appetite here are some ideas on local
places to eat:
Montmorillon – Le Lucullus.
Fantastic family run
restaurant in the Hotel de France. Menus range from €18
for three courses to the Menu Gastronomique at €45.
Really wonderful food with friendly service in elegant
surroundings. The Hotel de France also has a Bistro which
is amazingly good value, with a slightly simpler menu.
Montmorillon – Au Roman des
Saveurs.
In a lovely
place, down by the river in the medieval town, this provides
great food at reasonable prices. Elegant surroundings,
a little larger than Le Lucullus.
Montmorillon – Creperie.
Tiny, good value creperie
in the medieval part of town.
Angles sur l’Anglin – Le Lion d’Or.
Smart dining at good value.
Angles sur l’Anglin – Marsala
Good
pizzeria which is cosy in the winter and has extensive
outdoor seating for the summer.
Chauvigny – Choucas.
A lovely restaurant high up
in this medieval town. Great outdoor eating in the summer,
cosy inside for the winter. Menu du Marche for an amazing €11.
Chavigny – (as distinct from
Chauvigny for those of you who thought it was a typo).
Moulin de Chavigny.
Probably the smartest restaurant in the area. Wonderful
surroundings in the countryside down by the river. Tranquil
dining inside or al fresco – with menus from €18
- €50 for the menu gastronomique.
Belabre – Café des Sports.
This is great
for outdoor meals in the summer. Simple local restaurant
in the town square with really good food at incredible
value. €10 menu is fantastic. Have a café calva
to finish off your meal!
Antigny – Les Marmottes.
Tiny
restaurant in this hamlet with a covered outside area.
Madame is completely
charming and keeps the show on the road, while Monsieur
specialises in grilled meats with great marinades and spices
and issues fishing permits.
