Outside
La Tuilerie is set in large gardens to front and back.
The front garden contains a lovely pool (11m x 5.5m) with
pool-side terrace. It has a Roman end (with steps leading
into the shallow end of the pool) which is ideal for smaller
children to play in or for larger people to sit on and
sip something cool. The front garden contains some lovely
trees (with hammock slung between), and a copse which provides
a fantastic place for children to make camps and play in
the shade. There is also an old well (completely covered
and safe) and in one of the open-fronted barns an original
bread oven where you can cook up a pizza or a whole lamb!
We provide BBQ equipment for days when you decide not
to go to one of the many good local restaurants, and prefer
to relax on the pool terrace with some home cooked food.
The back garden is equally large, edged by a dry stone
wall, and makes an ideal place to set up the badminton
net or the portable football goals if you fancy a little
activity.
We have bicycles (various), a table tennis table and a
boat for Jerome K. Jerome picnics on the local River Gartempe – but
you should check availability at the time of booking.
Just 30 seconds walk down the lane is a pretty bridge
over a small river – ideal for playing Pooh Sticks
from above, or for paddling in below. The river banks are
also an idyllic spot for taking a lunch time picnic – actually
we have been known to take morning coffee and croissants
down there too. As you would expect, we can also arrange
for you to enjoy fishing rights during your stay and rods
are available at the house – again, just check with
us at booking time to make sure we have the right equipment
in place for you.
St Leomer itself is a very friendly little village. Our
local managers (who are English and have lived in the area
for some years) live in the village itself and are only
5 minutes away should you have any queries or requests.
